E.A.S. Kavala
The Union of Farmers’ Association (EAS) of Kavala was established in 1927, and operates as a primary Agricultural Cooperative, having as members producers from the provinces of Kavala, Nestos and Thassos. The cooperative aims to support the business world it cooperates with, to advertise and promote its products and to provide professional advice thus making the work of its customers easier. EAS Kavala remains open to the challenges of the future, and works consistently, methodically and reliably.
The main products of the cooperative are:
- Kiwi fruit: one of the most important products of the Union with a dynamic presence in international markets
- Green olives and Throumpa: exported processed, bulk and packaged
- Asparagus: an exclusively exported product with very high added value
- Maize, Rice, Beans, and Cereals (Wheat and Barley): Trading is conducted mainly in the mainland and the Aegean islands
The activities of E.A.S. Kavala include, in addition to processing, standardization and marketing of the above agricultural products, the provision of services to the region’s farmers by its geotechnics department. The main concern of the EAS Agronomists is not only to meet the needs of farmers in fertilizers, seeds and pesticides but also to provide consulting and scientific services.
Finally, among the other services provided by EAS Kavala to its Farmers/Members are the provision of specialized services, such as:
- Accounting support
- Provision of Insurance Brokerage through the Greek insurance company Syneteristiki Asfalistiki (Syndea)
- Assistance regarding the receipt of Agricultural Subsidies: IACS applications and other Measures of Rural Development Programs (RDP).
