XANTHI CHAMBER
The Chamber of Xanthi was established on 28-8-1956 by the Royal Decree 186/28-8-1956, and its area of responsibility is the Prefecture of Xanthi.
From 13-6-1925 until 31-7-1956 there was a regional chamber in Xanthi.
Today it is managed, in accordance with Greek Law 2081/10-9-1992 “Regulation of the institution of Chambers” and 3419/06.12.2005 “G.E.M.I. & Modernization of the Chamber Legislation”, by a 21-member Board of Directors and a 5-member Administrative Committee.
Today, the Chamber of Xanthi is one of the main pillars of the local economy. With the experience and expertise acquired in recent decades, it is an indispensable body for supporting businesses and a significant factor in directing developments in the region’s economy, primarily serving as an official consultant in local development.
The Chamber shall, among others:
- Intervene with positions on development and economic policy issues as an official advisor to the Greek State.
- Take part as an established member in Prefectural and Regional Committees dealing with business and developmental issues.
- Implement several programs concerning continuous education and information for entrepreneurs and employees.
- Participate in European interregional and transnational programs, aiming to transfer know-how, increase the added value generated by its members, enhance regional entrepreneurship, and create appropriate development and sustainability infrastructures.
