Campus SA Model livestock unit

Campus SA is located in Alexandroupolis and is active in producing fresh cow’s milk. The farm produces 6% of the daily nationwide cow’s milk production.
The production of superior fresh cow’s milk and the high milk yields are based on innovations and good livestock practices. Specifically:
- Welfare of cows, since open and spacious stable facilities (20 sq.m. / per animal) provided animals with comfort in their movements,
- Soy-free feeding and replacement with other protein sources,
- Raw milk hygiene, as raw milk is cooled immediately from 36°C to 2°C, within just a few seconds using a heat exchanger after milking.
At Campus, the activity is in harmony with nature, since within the farm there is a biogas production unit with a capacity of 1MW. Electricity and heat are produced through the anaerobic digestion of manure and whey from the factory. Electricity is supplied to the Greek PPC network DEI and the heat covers the needs of the farm, without further use of other forms of energy. Finally, a solid residue is extracted from biogas that meets the organic fertilization needs of farmers in the wider area.
